The students, Tony Alexander, Leon Collins, Rick Byrne and Penny Wood were accompanied by Pauline Harness [Agency Director] and Simon Ekins [Course Tutor]

for the lunch where their certificates were presented by George Derbyshire, Chief Executive of the National Federation of Enterprise Agencies

Andrew Collier who was unable to attend the ceremony because he had already started his business and so was unable to leave 'the shop' was also successful in graduating from the course

The New Entrepreneur Scholarship is a national scheme designed to assist people from specific areas of the community who are less likely than others to start their own businesses

The New Entrepreneur Scholarships are delivered on behalf of the Learning and Skills Council by a partnership of leading organisations with proven experience in providing and delivering business training and support as well as working with people from all groups of the community

Partners include members of the National Federation of Enterprise Agencies, of which the Grimsby & Cleethorpes Area Enterprise Agency is a member, together with The Prince's Trust, and The Association of Business Schools

Students accepted onto the Scheme follow a 90 hour intensive course in Business Planning of consisting of in- class workshops, home inter-active study and one to one sessions with the Course Tutor

In addition to the Training, students are assisted in the preparation of their Business Plans and Financial Projections, which are assessed by a regional panel selected from the partners who may award grants of up to £3500 to successful graduates to help in setting up their business
