Small online retailers don't think fraud prevention is their responsibility
Research by PayPoint.net has revealed that 99% of the small online retailers it surveyed don't believe that they are responsible for fraud prevention and management. Further, just 3% of online shoppers would trust a small online business with their money - most shop with larger online brands, and some 81% of consumers are suspicious of the security of small, unknown businesses. PayPoint.net suggests that small online retailers implement a range of measures to secure their sites, including the PCI DSS data security standard and an address verification service to confirm the identity of a person claiming to own a credit card.
