Prepare for Welfare Reform Act, businesses urged
Businesses have been urged to prepare for major welfare reforms when the Welfare Reform Act comes into force in October this year. A survey by researchers PMI Health Group found that over half of businesses surveyed - 56% - still don't know of the Act. Some 64% don't understand the impact it will have on their business. According to a spokesman for PMI, the Act will impact significantly on businesses and their working practices. It will encourage people claiming incapacity benefits to return to work, meaning employers will have to adopt more flexible working practices and adapt office equipment to satisfy the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.
