Money Laundering Regulations deadline looming
Trust or Company Service Providers (TCSPs) are being reminded to register their businesses with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) by 1 April 2008 if they want to carry on doing business. Under the new Money Laundering Regulations, which came into force in December 2007, TCSPs and Accountancy Service Providers (ASPs) must be supervised by a professional body in order to carry on trading. They can register with HMRC if they are not already supervised by a designated professional body or the Financial Services Authority. HMRC is also reminding ASPs that they can register with HMRC from 1 April 2008 and need to apply before 1 July 2008, in order for their applications to be processed before the 1 October deadline.
