Health and safety bill has chance of becoming law
A health and safety bill making its way through parliament could stand a chance of becoming law. The Health and Safety (Offences) Bill proposes to raise magistrate court fines from £5,000 to £20,000 for the breach of safety regulations, such as failing to conduct a risk assessment. The Bill would also make imprisonment for the offences a possibility. The Bill has been backed by Government and further discussion about it is due in June, in the House of Commons.
