Calls for stiffer penalties over software piracy
Deterrents to using pirated computer software are insufficient,
according to the Business Software Alliance (BSA), which says that 27%
of PC software installed in the UK is illegal. The figure, which has not
changed for the last three years, is from BSA's Global Software Piracy
Study. The BSA says many UK firms still ignore software licensing
regulations, despite Government and industry efforts to enforce the
licensing laws. The BSA also found increasing numbers of small firms
